Central heating upgrades in Motherwell.
We upgrade radiators, heating controls and pipework across Motherwell and roughly 40 miles of Scotland’s Central Belt, by a Gas Safe registered engineer, registration 961480. Targeted upgrades often fix the complaint — cold rooms, uneven heat, a system that costs too much to run — without replacing the boiler at all.
We reply to every enquiry — the same working day, in writing.

The complaints an upgrade usually fixes
- One or two rooms that never get properly warm while the rest of the house is fine.
- Heating that is either on and too hot or off and too cold, with nothing in between.
- Radiators that were sized for a different house, or a different extension.
- A programmer nobody understands, so the heating runs on whatever it was set to years ago.
- Bills that have crept up while the house has not changed.
Why this is often the cheaper answer
A new boiler does not fix a system that cannot move heat to the right rooms. If the radiators are wrong, the system is unbalanced or the controls are crude, a replacement boiler will heat the same cold room slightly more efficiently. Balancing, valves and controls are a fraction of the cost and address the actual complaint. Where a new boiler genuinely is the answer, we will say so — see boiler installation.
Smarter control, in plain terms
Thermostatic valves let each radiator hold its own temperature, so a bedroom does not have to be as warm as a living room. A modern programmer or smart thermostat lets the heating follow how the house is actually used rather than a schedule set once and forgotten. Between them they usually cut waste more than any single component swap.
Plumbing, while we are there
We take on domestic plumbing alongside the heating work — leaks, burst pipes, radiators and pipework. Same engineer, same standard, and no need to find somebody else for the half of the job that is not gas.
Common questions
Can I improve my heating without replacing the boiler?
Very often, yes. Balancing the system, fitting thermostatic valves, replacing undersized radiators or upgrading controls can fix the complaint for a fraction of a replacement.
What are thermostatic radiator valves?
A TRV lets each radiator hold its own temperature, so you can keep a bedroom cooler than a living room instead of heating the whole house to one setting.
Are smart heating controls worth it?
They help most in a house where the heating schedule does not match how people actually live. Being able to change it from a phone is the part people use.
Will new radiators mean draining the system?
Usually yes, at least partly. If the water that comes out is dirty, that is worth knowing about on its own — see powerflushing.
Do you do general plumbing as well?
Yes. Leaks, burst pipes, radiators and pipework, to the same standard as the heating work.
Can you fit an unvented hot water cylinder?
Yes. We are qualified for unvented cylinders, which need a qualified installer. Whether one suits your house depends on the mains water pressure and the system you have, and we tell you at the quote.
